Work starts on bridge repairs

Work to repair the damaged parapet on Burford bridge has finally started. The workers told us that they have been waiting for nearly a year for the water level to drop enough to make it safe for them to begin.

Another consideration is bats. The "bat police" (nothing to do with Batman, apparently) say they do not believe that the presence of bats will prevent the work from going ahead but some bat boxes may have to be installed under the bridge.
