West Oxfordshire District Council has  launched the statutory consultation on the Draft West Oxfordshire Local Plan 2043

The consultation will run until 9 October 2026 and is open to all local residents, businesses, community organisations and other interested stakeholders.

The Draft Local Plan sets out:

  • The Council's proposed planning policies for West Oxfordshire to 2043.

  • The proposed strategy for accommodating future housing, employment and infrastructure needs.

  • Proposed site allocations for housing, employment and other forms of development.

  • Policies to help address climate change, support nature recovery, improve infrastructure, strengthen the local economy and protect the character of West Oxfordshire's towns, villages and countryside.

Unlike earlier consultation stages, which sought views on emerging ideas, policies and potential development locations, this consultation relates to the Council's proposed submission version of the Local Plan.

This is the final stage of public consultation before the Draft Local Plan is submitted for independent examination. At this stage, comments should focus on whether the Plan is legally compliant and whether it is considered sound.

To make it as easy as possible to have your say, we encourage everyone to submit their comments using our online consultation platform

Alternatively, representations can be submitted by:

Paper copies of the Draft Local Plan and supporting documents are available to view at the council offices and at deposit locations across the district.
