Jubilee Weekend Bin Collections

Not the most exciting news - but something that is useful to know about.

Householders in West Oxfordshire are being asked to check their refuse and recycling collections days over the Queen’s Jubilee bank holiday weekend - as well as after the celebrations have finished - to ensure they know when their bins and containers need to be presented at the kerbside for emptying.

The council is suspending waste collections over the double bank holiday (Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June) and as a result, all households will experience a change to their collection days over the following fortnight as collections are pushed back.

To accommodate the catch up, crews will be working two consecutive six-day weeks (Monday-Saturday) when they return on Monday 6 June.

This means that collections in the period between 2 and and 10 June will be two days late (plus any intervening Sunday) and for the period from 13 to 17 June they will be one day late.

In Burford, and anywhere else with a Friday collection, the collection which would have taken place on Friday 3 June will be on Tuesday 7th, while the one for Friday 10 June will be on Monday 13 June.

Normal service will be resumed from Monday 20 June.
