Sadly, we have been informed that the plan to move Burford's post office to the site formerly occupied by the Bygones shop in the Lower High Street has fallen through as it was not commercially viable. It now seems that Burford News will close on 24 December, unless someone steps forward to save it. Although several businesses in the town have closed this year, most of the premises are in the process of being taken over by others and rents for many are so high that it would be difficult to run a post office economically.
We shall put any further news about this on this page.
Perhaps one of our local pubs could put the post office inside their building, as has happened in some places? Now, there's a thought.
