We are sorry to report the death of Roy Lilley on 12 December. Roy was an active member of Burford Parish Church. He joined the Friends of Burford Church in 2013 and was soon elected as a committee member. As a lover of historic buildings and antiquities he was ideally suited. He enjoyed showing visitors round the church and was also involved with tours of the town which took place each summer. He was a guide for the National Trust and volunteered at Chastleton House and Snowshill keeping very busy during the season. He was also a driver for Volunteer Link Up and many can tell of his kindness on trips to hospital, dentists or other appointments. He stood down from the Friends’ committee at the recent AGM but was still keen to be involved and help at any events we might have. During the last year he was one of the volunteer vergers and he was always willing to take on a morning or afternoon session welcoming visitors. He also enjoyed singing in the choir.
Roy's funeral will take place at St John the Baptist's Church, Burford, on Friday 7 January 2022.
