Twelve metre restriction on coaches in Burford

OCC has approved a 12-metre length restriction on coaches in Burford, reports The Independent:

The road safety measures, which have been put in place for Priory Lane in Burford, follow several minor accidents outside the town's primary school on the narrow medieval street.

Existing School Keep Clear markings will be formalised alongside a weekday No Stopping restriction between 8am and 5pm.

[BTC] emphasised that the safety of school children must take priority over the convenience of tour operators.

Exemptions will be available for permit holders should the primary school require a coach larger than 12 metres.

A local business owner has commented:

Not good for our shop businesses losing so many customers. This really could be devastating for many of our retailers. They have NO IDEA how much [is] spent by these customers here in Burford on a daily basis.
