There are a number of local elections in this area on 5 May. In West Oxfordshire there are elections for district councillors for 16 wards including two in our immediate area: Burford, Fulbrook and Taynton and Brize Norton and Shilton (which includes Asthal and Swinbrook). Here are also elections for Burford Town Council and various parish councils. If you are not on the electoral register and wish to vote, you will need to apply to register by 5pm on Thursday 14 April. You can do this online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
If you are going to be away on 5 May you can apply for a postal vote until 5pm on Tuesday 19 April. Or you can apply for a proxy vote as long as you do so by 5pm on Tuesday 16 April. Application forms for these can be found online at the same web address as above. You can also apply for either a postal or proxy vote by telephoning 01993 861410.
There are 49 seats on West Oxfordshire District Council. At present the Conservative party holds 27 of these but with 16 sets up for grabs control of the council could easily change. Every vote could count.
