Like us, you may have seen the yellow signs which have sprouted along our roadsides referring to "Cereal production" or similar terms. Well, we decided to find out what it is about so you don't have to.
No, it doesn't mean that some new episodes of Downton Abbey are being filmed in our area. Instead it's described as "a massive trade show dedicated to arable agriculture." It is being hosted at Diddly Squat Farm by Jeremy Clarkson, who seems to be everywhere at the moment. It's expected to draw 25,000+ agricultural professionals with roughly 700 exhibitors and features 600+ crop plots, live machinery demonstrations, agronomy zones, and industry seminars. "It will also feature Clarkson's Farm-themed highlights, including Kaleb's Korner and the Farmer's Dog bar."
Among the many attractions are the Agri-Linc Demo, the Syngenta and Croplife Sptraying Area and the Ceres Rural Crop Challenge. The ladies will no doubt like to watch the Farmers Weekly Fittest Farmer Challenge.
The event will take place on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 June. However, if that has whetted your appetite, here's the bad nows. It's a trade only event and the general public like you and me are firmly barred from attending. So to cheer you up, here's a joke. A man has been found battered to death with a packet of Coco Pops. Police are looking for a cereal killer.
