A working party has been set up by Burford Town Council to carry out a feasibility study into the possibility of developing a Neighbourhood Plan for Burford. Neighbourhood planning gives communities an opportunity to have a say in how development happens in their area.

The neighbourhood plan can influence:

  • where new housing or employment might be located in the area

  • types of development, including materials to be used for new development

  • opportunities for green infrastructure, for example, open spaces, pedestrian paths.

A number of other communities in West Oxfordshire have already produced Neighbourhood Plans or are in the process of doing so. Details of where this is happening and other information about the process can be found here:

As a first step towards increasing communication between the town council, Burford residents and other community stakeholders, the neighbourhood plan working group has put together a very simple questionnaire in order to create greater engagement and start registering interest in forum participation (Town Character Assessment, Community Action Plan, Neighbourhood Plan).

The first phase is for them to understand what percentage of the population they can actually reach digitally. The questionnaire will enable you to say how you would like to be updated about the plan and to say what current issues (traffic, schools, medical care and numerous others) are of concern to you.

You can respond to the questionnnaire by following the link below. The more people reply, the better will be the understanding of the team as they set about this important task.
