OCC is in the process of resuracing lots of roads. Importantly for us, these include the A361 The Hill which is due to be worked on between 8 and 20 August.

UPDATE: We now understand thatThe Hill will be CLOSED overnight from 8pm to 6am from 18 to 21 August.

We have today (29 July) received a letter from OCC giving some more details. No doubt it has been widely distributed but for anyone who has not seen it, it contains some more information:

The works will be carried out under a series of three consecutive overnight full road closures with working hours from 2000hrs to 0600hrs. Please note that the A361 The Hill will be fully reopened outside of these working hours. A fully signed local diversion will be in place for the scheme duration.

Monday 18th August - Resurfacing between A40 Rbt & Windrush Court.

Tuesday 19th August - Resurfacing between Windrush Court & Hunts Close.

Wednesday 20th August - Resurfacing between Hunts Close & Swan Lane.

A "No Waiting" enforcement comes into operation whilst the works are undertaken. Please could we kindly request that all vehicles avoid parking within the carriageway for the duration of the works, as this will impede the resurfacing and could cause delays.

Gatemen / Traffic Marshals will be positioned at either end of the road closure. They will direct traffic and pedestrians to ensure the safety of the public and workforce during working hours. We ask that you give them your full support and heed their advice whether you are a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist.

We will endeavour to maintain vehicular access at all times to those properties affected by the works. However, there may be occasions where delays are likely once the new surfacing is laid, as it takes time to cool down and cure, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Surfacing operations are moving operations so the highest level of noise will only be experienced by individual frontages for short periods. The noisiest operation, the milling of the existing road surface, will be completed by 2300hrs, although some construction noise will still be evident during the latter stages of the resurfacing operations.
